Within a space of a few weeks, life for many of us has changed. At the very least – most of us should now be washing our hands a lot! Covid-19 has the potential make a number of people in our community seriously ill.
Our team at the Clothing Project are keeping an eye on the daily developments and we are following the advice from the Ministry of Health. To keep our volunteers safe and healthy, we are asking that anyone who is sick or feeling under the weather to stay at home. We are also encouraging our volunteers wash their hands regularly and keeping our workplace clean. As it stands, we are operating as usual. We will continue to follow the advice from the Ministry of Health and if this advice changes, we may explore the options we have able to continue the work we do. However, keeping our volunteers, staff and clients safe and healthy is of utmost importance at this time.
The service that we provide is essential for many people living in our community. Our clients often make up some of the most vulnerable people and our team want to continue providing an essential service.
With hard times are coming we need your help more than ever before. Please continue to donate clothing unless we mention otherwise. Please follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with any changes. Our drop off locations are Plunket on Victoria Ave, Whakatane and Stitchtec embroidery opposite Countdown in Whakatane. We are currently running a Pajama Drive and would love some support by way of new Pajama’s for children this winter or a cash donation.
Lastly, we know that this may a stressful time for many people. Please remember to be kind to each other. Make sure you in keep in contact with vulnerable people - perhaps at a distance. They may be new mums, our elderly friends and family or someone who is sick. Remember to follow the guidelines from the Ministry of Health to keep our vulnerable people safe.
